Everything (should have been) out of sight
Oh fine, its nice to know we have as many ‘dirty old men’ on this side of the pond, as there are in Hollywood, seemingly. Not something to be proud of, but equally, not something I’m surprised to discover. Yes, the Presidents Club event, and for once, that word doesnt relate to Donald Trump, when it comes to disasters!
Lets see, a men only event, for the wealthy business, and media industry people, held in Central London, supposedly with an auction to raise money for good causes. But lets face it, when 2 of the things you’re bidding on are a personal laptop dance in Soho, and cosmetic surgery for a person of your choice, you can tell what sort of event it was likely to be. Or should have been able to, at least.
So lets see, if you see an advert for hostesses for such an event, and the dress code for the event, is a sexy short skirt/dress, sexy black underwear, and black high heel shoes, there should be a clue that its not going to be an event for Puritans! Therefore, despite feeling sorry for the women involved, and to the events that happened there, I equally have to ask that with that dress code, and the payment is £125 for a few hours work (plus taxi fare home), it should be obvious that someone is thinking that ‘something’ might happen that night. As we now know, it did! But seriously, unless you’re very innocent, isnt that a case of the money being too good to be true? Yes, it was!
I’m going to assume most readers will have heard about this, so I’ll keep the details brief. But lets just mention the seventy something man, who asked a 19 year old woman if she was a prostitute (she wasnt), and tales of men waving their penis in the face of women, and inviting them to their bedrooms, and yes, thats just the, err, highlights!
What I suspect the Presidents Club expected to happen, was that everything would be hushed down, and though tales might get out, and a number (if not all) of those women wouldnt be doing the job next year, they thought that would be the end of that. Fortunately for us, but not for them, a couple of reporters had sneaked themselves in as hostesses, and the news got out. The amusing thing is, all the people who were there, but supposedly never saw a thing, or conveniently left early! Given that the ‘events’ with the girls supposedly started when the meal starters were handed out, I wonder just how early some left!
The interesting thing was the reaction from the Club. No, not to look into events, and make sure these things never happen again. No, they just decided that they wont give money to good causes in the future! I have no idea if they’ve retracted that, as that comment seems to have disappeared from details, but who knows? I suspect that ideally, they’d just like everything hushed up. Whether the ‘powers that be’ can do so, who knows, hopefully its gone too far for that.
But yes, sadly, it just shows that its not just a Hollywood thing, with rich men abusing their power, it happens here too, and probably has for years, its just that now they’ve finally been caught!

Back to serious writing
Do you know the last time I wrote anything longer than 2-3,000 words? Seemingly, its over 3 years ago, wow! Yes, it shows how tough it is to write while I was working, I guess? Well, no longer do I have that millstone hanging around my neck, as today, I finished my first long story since then. Currently, its just under 9,000 words, though that figure might alter slightly, once my wonderful editor has done his part.
To be honest, I enjoyed doing it, though I had forgotten just how tiring long writing sessions can be. But at least I know, when I’ve got the time, and the inclination, I can still write long pieces, something I had begun to wonder.
Yes, as you might have therefore gathered, its going to be a while before you get to see it. Well, a few weeks at least, I suspect. I’ve heard many things about this Kindle Unlimited thing, ran by Amazon, so I might give it a try, though of course you would be able to buy it from them as well. But it does mean I cant sell it for a certain period through any other market, but in all honesty, apart from Barnes and Noble, I wont be missing out on much.
As I said on Friday, I’ve taken the concept of Christmas Carol, and played around with it. So though there are 3 situations, there is only 1 visitor, in fact. And none of it is set in the future lol, unless you count the result of the very ending.
I admit it, most people would write a story set in Hollywood, after you’ve been there, but no, I have to jump in, and write it in advance. At least that way, I dont know I’ve got all the locations wrong! And yes, shock horror, it has a happy ending…of sorts.
Being honest, I suspect there will be at least one more very shortly, working on someone else’s concept, which will involve mind control, and will go as a freebie to the Archive. But this one will hopefully put a few pennies in my coffers, I could probably do with them!
Well, supposedly the weather is going to improve this week, but I’ll believe it when I see it. If it does, I might go over to Headingley, and take in some cricket, while I can. Its only a friendly, against the local university, but its cricket, and if the weather is good…it will be a day not spent over a hot laptop! Beyond that, a baseball game in Los Angeles, in a couple of weeks time will definitely happen. Have a couple of Dodgers games I can go to, on the Friday, or the Sunday, and will plan to get to one of them. They are also home on the Saturday, but I will be otherwise engaged that evening!

Well, I knew there was a very good reason why I’m in the Louise Brooks Society, and this must count as one of them, because I probably wouldnt have known this without them. On November 1st, guess what’s showing in Leeds? Pandora’s Box, thats all! 🙂 Opera North, thank you so much.
Yes, technically I can watch it anyway, its available on You Tube, but…seriously, there’s a huge difference between watching a film on a laptop, and watching it on the big screen, with live music. Alright, there’s part of me that thinks it would be more fun if Andy McCluskey had written the score, and was performing it with OMD, but anyway…
Now all I have to do is get a suitable shift for that day at work, and preferably the Friday off, because its going to be a late night getting home, even possibly needing a taxi back home from town, but we will see on that at the time. Well, I’ve got Lou as a middle name, and if I’d been more rebellious when transitioning, it would have been Louise, so… No,no takers, I’m pretty sure, lets face it, I’m not as young, or as pretty as Brooksie, so hardly belle of the ball/woman of your dreams material lol! Seriously, I’m happy to buy my own ticket etc, just thought it might be fun? No, dont worry, I wont wear a stunning (or even plain), flapper style dress unless you’re buying lol, and I certainly cant do the helmet bob look without a wig lol, there are some limits to what I can achieve with my hair, and budget lol! I bet some of the cinema goers do though. Sorry guys, high heels, you have no chance. By the way, girls who want a female partner, feel fine to offer to come with me too.

Actually if you change the day, the clue is in the title. I’m guessing this performance is from a 70’s TV series, when their fame was revived, but dont quote me on that.

I will wear a dress, instead of top and trousers/skirt if a ‘partner’ wants me to, but expect to escort me all the way there if you do, I am transgendered, and there are idiots about, especially at night, so…sense prevails. A helmet bob wig, you bet I would, darlings!
