May the fifth be with you

Fine, I’ve cheated with the title, and I can hear a ‘couple’ of people saying that this should have been posted yesterday accordingly, but tough. Unless anyone can give me a C3P0 upgrade, I have to post when the force is with me to do so. Yes, happily now?

In truth, some might be shocked to know the number of Star War films in the series I’ve seen? Yes, just three, the first three, in order of release, for those who have every film dutifully in actual chronological order, for which I wouldnt have a clue. So mentioning any of the characters who have been introduced to me, waste of time, not a clue!

Oh fine, I also dont deny it, if anyone offered me a chance to wear any of the outfits, see above for my first choice, C3P0. And Star Wars fans, thats nothing to do with him, its the fact that its a pretty good take off of Maria, the robot of Metropolis fame, its not even subtle in doing so.

Beyond that, just because they would be amazing to wear, I wouldnt say no to a Storm Trooper outfit (though it might ruin my shooting skills?), or even more so, the full Darth Vader outfit, oh please! Could think of a few Transphobic people who might have problems if I could do the ‘Death Grip’ thing, mind!

Other than that, if I was young, slim, and naturally female, I’d love to do the Princess Leia slave girl look. I know, I’m submissive, and it amuses me, but I would have a few issues with that look, without serious surgery, and a rejuvenation machine! Mind, if anyone is offering both for free? But fine, one of the ‘full cover’ looks is wiser, and easier at my age!

I guess that at some point in the future, long after I have left this world, the whole May the fourth thing will die away? I guess a generation or so after the last film is released, probably? But until then…

So, the video, the combination of 2 classics. The Star Wars take on the Queen classic, that probably changed music back in the 1970’s. Quite a decade, dont you agree?

Be careful who you tease

Yes, 2 weeks from now, I’ll be in Blackpool, and for a few days at least, all the normal dates for blogs may not happen. Not because the internet isnt good in the Guest House I’ll be staying in (it is), but because I suspect I’m going to be a busy old lady for a few days, plus the layout of the room isnt great for things like typing long blogs, but anyway…

Seriously, if you have any chance of being in Blackpool, on the 15th March, you need to buy tickets for ‘That’s Entertainment’ that night, just to see what amazing outfit I’m dressed in. I’m not saying they will be as in the video, but hey, if thats what we’re teased with, as options, well who knows? 😉 You can get the greeting, and movie for as little as £10, and can get the full works, including the after show party, for £20, and no telling what a ‘saucy chorus girl’ might get up to then! Probably not a lot, but the only way to find out…?

For those wanting details of the weekend, and the chance to buy tickets, go to http://www.wintergardensfilm.co.uk/ to purchase.

Last night, the lovely lady who arranges our outfits for the night, teased us that she was looking into what we would be wearing on the night, and posted the video, which is about the last 2 and a half minutes of this, as a tease to us ladies that we would be getting something like these. I think she was expecting us all to say we couldnt wear something like that, but several of us (including me) just said to ‘bring it on’, even more so if including the headpieces. So yes, now she’s probably trying to find these sort of shimmery outfits lol, I just hope she remembers I need something with a bit of discreteness in the genital area, lol!

To be honest, to wear one of those, or similar outfits that chorus girl dancers like Clara Johnson wore, would be absolutely amazing. But fine, I admit it, wearing one of those crazy headpieces would definitely be as much fun to wear. I have worn some crazy costumes over the year (and hopefully will soon wear one more), but never worn anything like those on my head. Must be weird walking in them, but fine, I’d love to give it a try! Now, if someone can download some dancing skills into my mind, within the next fortnight, you have no idea how thrilled I would be!

Oh fine, the video. Feel free to suggest which outfit you’d love to see me in. I think the Hedy Lamarr one could work for me, as would cover up what needs to be covered up, looks amazing, and as for that starry headpiece…oh my!

I have set the video to where the gorgeous outfits start to appear, but feel free to go back to the start, if you wish

Political correctness stupidity

One of those ‘grumpy old lady’ moments that I hope some enjoy at least. Yes, I understand that many things need to be done ‘politically correctly’ nowadays, but there are times when its taken too far. Let children grow up as children, for pity’s sake!

The PC furore I ran into today, was over a dress that Disney are apparently trying to sell to young children, or more correctly, their parents, for their young daughters. Which one, you might be asking, or maybe you’ve already guessed? Pocahontas!

I know, young white children, wearing an outfit of a Native American character, I can see, in a perfect world, some might not see it as an ideal scenario. But seriously, some of the ‘moral minority’ were making it sound like it was a treasonous crime, for heavens sake! I’m sorry, but girls under the age of 10 dont know, or care about politics, let it be known! All they know, is that they’ve seen the movie, loved the character, and want to dress like her. Presumably at this time of year, it could be as a Halloween outfit (which is crazily huge in US), or maybe something else, though I would assume the former.

What I want these people to do, is stop and think. Lets see, if young girls want to (in their minds at least) look like a Native American woman, isnt it more likely that when they grow up, that they will be more supportive of said community? Whereas if they are stopped from wearing it, to appease the politically correct people, arent they more likely to dislike said community, for stopping their dressing up fun as a child?

Now, I’m not saying my logic is perfect, as presumably, if parents are happy for their daughter to dress up as Pocohontas in the first place, then they’re not likely to be right wing white supremacists! I know, I know, Disney are only in it to make money, lets face it, but…if young girls (and dare I even suggest this, young boys?), want to dress as Pocohontas, then let them! Their precious childhood is but for a few years, so let them enjoy it. They can get into the sad realities of life when they get old enough, and hopefully wise enough to still want to support Native Americans living in the US.

Lets cheat, and include the video here, as this is what it relates to. The song is from 1960, this version is from 2009, and still pretty good!

OK, lets have an actress moment, as it loosely relates to a similar sort of issue. I know, I’m blessed that at the moment, I only need a wheelchair for matters involving standing in one place for very long. Others, it has to be pointed out, are not so fortunate. But practically, for me at present, pretty much any acting role (stop laughing, I know) would require me to be in a wheelchair for most, if not all of the performance, pretty much the latter in truth. A fact that you may, or may not know, most roles in the movies (and other parts) requiring people to be in a wheelchair, are played by people who dont need one! Oh fine, Patrick Stewart was magnificent as Magneto, and Raymond Burr (for the oldies among my readers) was great as Ironside, but…a disabled actor might have been just as good! I know, these arent female parts, but as good examples…And yes, I’d love to play a female Davros type (of Dalek fame) role, not that most would be surprised by that fact lol!

I know, I’m a bit of an in bet-weenie, in that I would need a wheelchair at present to act in the theater, or a movie at present, but its not a permanent state for me. As I said before, some are not so lucky, but yes, especially after the last fortnight, I have even more knowledge of what their life is like. Yes, its true, far too many people really do try to avoid catching your eye, or even acknowledging your presence, when you’re in a wheelchair, believe me, I now know!

But yes, if you, or anyone you know, either here in the UK, or in North America knows of a part suitable for a 60(ish) woman in a wheelchair, of decent acting standard, then feel free to let me know, c/o of stephmajor8@hotmail.com , or even better, contact a lovely agency in LA, and let them know. Their twitter address is @cgemLLC , or their website is cgem-llc.com . Just tell them that Stephanie Carpenter (the name I use on Twitter) sent you, and you’ll probably make their day, as much as mine! Go on, just think of the disability kudos it gets you, lol! Could make my dream come true too!

Oh, and tomorrow, back to the day job! Wish me luck!

Dress you up?

Alright, fine, given that I didnt want to do another passport office, or weather related blog, I thought I’d give this a whirl. Neither situation is great at the moment, but thats beside the point. Though in a sense, this came about because of the weather in the US, but anyway…

It seems this video has pretty much gone viral, so you’ve probably seen it before, so I’ve pinched one of the shorter sections

Yes, absolutely adorable, but people do forget that parts of China do get well below freezing in winter (Harbin has an ice festival), so this may not have been as much of a shock for this panda, as some might have thought. He had probably never seen anything quite like it in Washington, mind.

So fine, someone decided to play along with it, and this morning, I saw this,

Yes, great fun, and probably not a bad way to stay warm in some parts of the US at present, safely inside of that outfit, even when rolling in the snow. And yes, most definitely I would, given the chance. Which leads me on to…

I’m actually putting up tips for a site, on Facebook. No, not anything I dont like, like football, or stuff I dont think I know enough about, like horse racing, but on the sports I think I do, like American Football, and Golf. And fine, I’m doing a decent job on it, even more so after posting a number of winning selections for the Carolina game on Sunday. Not getting paid, but at least its keeping the mind ticking over, if not assisting the ever decreasing bank balance! There is a very good subscription service there too, I might add. Any gamblers who want details, ask at any of my many routes of contact (Here, Facebook, Twitter), and I’ll provide you with them.

But at the moment at least, I’m just posting on the non subscription board, along with a few others. What happened last week was that someone posted suggestions for one of the all weather meetings, and they didnt do very well. Someone else took note of them, backed them, and lost money, and then proceeded to call the whole thing a group of muppets, or something like that. At which point silliness abounded, and the Miss Piggy jokes started to flow, and developing into a few other muppet characters for other regulars. The trouble is, both us ladies fancied being Miss Piggy, but anyway…a few photos went up about it, great fun.

Oh, and me, I love the whole dress up idea, whether you call it cosplay, or just dressing up, take your pick. So yes, fine, I commented that I’d happily dress up in any of those type of suits, given the outfit, and given the chance. But fine, especially at the moment, I’m in no position to buy any for myself! But if anyone wants to get me something, I’ll definitely provide photos, though I cant guarantee playing in the snow, around here!

I know, not going to happen, but it would be fun! Oh, and one last photo before I sign off, this got posted on one of the many vintage type boards I inhabit on Facebook today, a couple at the races, about a century ago.

Day at the races

Not quite what I’d normally wear to go to Doncaster races on Saturday (if invited), but I would if the outfit was provided, you bet I would!

Lastly, the video. Well, as so often, the clue is in the title, though its not one of Madonna’s greatest musical moments, I must say
