Just to say, anyone laying money on what the video is, you’re almost certainly wrong!
But fine, given the date, and my love of the US, no prizes for working out this is going to start by saying Happy Birthday, America, a mere 239 today! Well, yes, the land was there, long before that, but as its marked by their independence…
However, this blog is focussing on a more recent event. Thats right, I havent yet got to mentioning the Supreme Court decision to allow same sex marriage, in all 50 states. Until then, it was a confusing jumble of what you could, and couldnt do, in various states, to put it mildly! Now it doesnt matter where you are, its a done deal, you can marry, if you want to! Yes, I’m delighted.
No, I have no plans to get married here, in the US or anywhere else at present. But now, if I wanted to, it can be done, and I’m glad.
So far, I’ve never been in the US on the 4th of July, but maybe someday it will happen. Its probably the other big event that I should be there for, after Thanksgiving, which of course I’ve now done. When, not sure at present, it may well be one of those post retirement things, given its right in the middle of the main holiday season, but we will see. Also, a lot of the US is ‘pretty hot’ at this time of year, and thats not really my thing.
But yes, just 10 weeks today, as Arnie said, I’ll be back! Hopefully I will be back in work by then!
